Dearest Krissa,

How time flies, mummy can still vividly recall the times when you were in my tummy and now you are already 2!!! Mummy will have to stop calling you "baby", perhaps I shall address you as "jie jie" or simply "Krissa Darling"? Mummy has applied leave way in advance to be sure I can spend the entire day with you, Daddy can't join us because he has classes.

Where shall we go for some great bonding time? After some thoughts, Mummy decided to bring you on your maiden trip to the cinema to watch Ice Age!! I suppose now that you've turned 2, the noise level and the darkness in the cinema should not be a problem. We went to Orchard Cineleisure as they have the mum-and-tot promotion where you get to enter for free. We were 10mins late and the minute we stepped into the cinema, you let go of my hand and stopped in your path, afraid to move another inch! Mummy then carried you inside and put you on my laps. You were silent and still with eyes fixed on the giant screen. Even when mummy gave you your snack trap cup filled with your favourite snacks, you merely held it in your hands and did not even reach for the insides! Honestly, mummy found it amusing for I have never seen you so quiet and still!! Soon, I got worried.......so I asked if you like the show. I immediately heaved a sigh of relief when you answered "yes". However, as much as you claimed to have liked the show, you fell prey to the sleepy bug after an hour or so!

After the show, we went to your favourite hangout - The Singapore Flyer to have Popeyes before meeting Ian gor gor and Auntie Sophia at Ikea Tampines for a short playdate. We had initially wanted to go to the beach but decided to change location when it rained. Thank you Auntie Sophia & Ian gor gor for your big box of pressies and the loot bag....remember? We had missed out on Ian gor gor's 2nd year birthday party because mummy was down with flu and they were so nice to have saved a loot bag for you!

After the playdate, we met Daddy at Hougang Mall for dinner(Japanese)...we went to the same restaurant on your 1st birthday after your bash too! Before we headed home, we bought a slice of strawberry shortcake and requested the kind auntie at the counter to give us 2 small candles. Mummy & Daddy FINALLY knew why you had detested the whole cake cutting ceremony! It was all due to the fire on the candles! You had refused to go near the cake when the fire was lit but you came running with much eagerness to cut the cake when the fre was gone! Hmmmm...... mummy does not have to worry with you playing with matches and fire then?!

Our precious Krissa: we earnestly wish that your whole life will be filled with laughter, surrounded with love, blessed with wisdom and good health. Please remember that no matter what happens in future, we are always here to support you and you will always have us to fall back on. WE LOVE YOU!!

LotsandlotsaLOVE,
Daddy & Mummy

Cake cutting = agony time for K?!!
Erm...missy, where are you looking at?

This was the grand finale of K's 2nd year birthday celebrations and it was a maniac rush as apart from the party in the noon at about 5p.m., I got to collect the cake by 8a.m. and be at Hort Park for photoshoot with Waipeng at 9a.m.!! The photoshoot did not run as smoothly as we had planned as Krissa was tired and sleepy after about 2hrs. We had wanted to go to nearby Little Bali for photoshoot as well but had to call it off because K really wasn't in the mood. We did not even make it to the playgrounds of Hort Park!!! Aargh.....so we had to arrange another day to complete the shoot.
We had invited relatives from my side and my mother-in-law to our humble abode for celebration. To hype up the party mood, we ordered balloons and my sis Keng was roped in to help decor the apartment. My dad had kindly sponsored all the food (yummy steamboat!). Another sis, Ling, helped me in the kitchen. Thanks to all of them for their help as we definitely would not be able to pull it off on our own.
By the end of the party, I just can't wait to sit, rest and eat as I was REALLY VERY, VERY tired BUT I was happy that everyone had a great time(^-^)
A big thank you to all relatives for your generous ang baos and gifts!!!

***K, yes, sadly once again does not want to have the cake near her. However, this time, she did cut her cake and enjoyed it so much, she came to me with a toy knife to cut it again and again! Okok....she's only 2...she'll enjoy it next year when she turns 3...hopefully, maybe, oh well!!!

Mummy's very excited today as Krissa will be celebrating her birthday in her weekly playschool with kids her age and I'm also finally able to use the "In The Night Garden" partyware which my bud Cheryl so kindly helped me to fly in from UK/Zurich. I really got to give kudos to Kellie here for creating such a beautiful cake and the characters looked sooo real! Whatever you see on the cake are all hand crafted! I had pinned very high hopes on this cake as K loves "In The Night Garden" and indeed Kellie did not fail me. The top layer of cake was saved for K's teachers at Art Loft. Along with the cake, we brought biscuits with cheese dips and goody bags for the kiddos.
Today also marks the last day of the school term. Sadly, Shanice will not be continuing as she now attends Talent Plus thrice a week. Thank you Shanice jie jie and Auntie Corinna for giving K the Care Bear pressie:) I will miss you, do keep in touch.

**Again, K ran away refusing to pose with the other children. The only improvement was she was willing to blow the candle. Hahaha!!! I suppose she was overwhelmed by all of the sudden attention on her when she came out of her classroom. I believe she did enjoy the cake though because she kept pointing at the characters on the cake & partyware:)

Happy Birthday, Princess Krissa - Part 1 24/07/2009

Kok Peng, my bud, helped me take these lovely pix using his pro pro camera.
Guess where's the shoot location? On my car, among blocks of HDB in Toa Payoh!!!

before she makes her escape!!

Alright, after months of preparations, the 1st day to a series of celebrations for our little princess has begun. It was a very simple but intimate celebration with my mother-in-law and my hubs' siblings. The sumptuous dinner was prepared by my mother-in-law and one could tell she had spent a great deal of time preparing for this meal. Of course, we adults enjoyed it most...little Krissa only got to have the soup with rice.

A big thank you to Ah Ma, uncles & aunties for your generous ang baos and gifts:)

**For the record, K must be the first and perhaps only bub who does not like to blow candles and cut cake for she struggled to break free when we sang Happy Birthday to her and refused to blow the candle and cut the cake!

KRISSA LOOKSOOOOOOOO SWEET!!

Krissa looks good in fuchsia pink, don't you think??!! (^_^)

Happy Birthday, Mommy - 22/07/2009

For some reason, I can't insert these enticing yummy pictures below,
so gotta put them right at the start...bon appetit!! BTW, we had a semi-buffet which had a scrumptious spread of raw oysters, sashimi, antipasto etc & mains as pictured above

cheesecake etc?
This little gor-gor from Hong Kong came to "chat-up" Krissa

Its that time of the year when I have to add another year to my current age. I knew some would say things like "not a year older but a year wiser" and the likes but why? oh why? why does birthday come so fast after one passes the age of 21? Okok...I gotta brace myself...everyone ages and I'm no exception, I shall take it in my stride and pray that it does make me wiser;)

On a brighter note, I was really happy to start the day with sms & handshakes filled with birthday greetings. My buddy, Kok Peng, treated me to a steamboat lunch and I had a mini celebration in the office together with another colleague whose birthday falls on the same date as mine. BUT it was Daddy who really made my day! He really went through all lengths to make sure I was really happy by planning the following:

1) Sending a big bouquet of bright and cheery flowers(including my all-time favourite Lilies) to my office
2) Fetching Krissa from my mum's house, allowing me ample time to doll myself before dinner
3) Booked a Bentley(provided by the hotel, The St. Regis) to pick us up from our house at 7.30p.m.
4) Dinner at the French restaurant: Brasserie Les Saveurs(swaying fountains in different colours behind the full panel glass windows ala Sentosa's musical fountain "x" years back)
5) Home sweet home in the same Bentley....but hey, where's my birthday pressie?? Ok, the fault is mine...I've not decided what I want....*thinking hard*

I FELT SO BLESSED, THANKS FOR EVERYTHING & I LOVE YOU, HUBS!!!

Sentosa - 16/07/2009 (Pix in Sentosa Itself!!)

Underwater World....where's the dreaded camera?!

Right: Inside the capsule
Finally!! Gotten the pictures from Joycelyn....thank god she's around when I need her most;) Hahaha!!! Remember? Blur mummy left the camera in the car and only managed to use it at Singapore Flyer. Ok, enough talk....I think I've blogged enough on our experience and sights at Sentosa in my previous entry....so its time to let the pictures do the talking.

Sentosa - 16/07/2009(Pix Inside The Capsule of Singapore Flyer)

Happy shots with Joycelyn & Family
The gals in action!

2 Mini Jumping Beans ^-^
Joycelyn's brother-in-law managed to apply for an AWESOME pass with free entry to major attractions in Singapore and at the very kind and generous invitation of Joycelyn and family, Krissa and I went to Sentosa. Daddy was not able to join us as he had classes during the day and would not be able to join us till late noon. Nevertheless, we had great fun and I woke up the next day with a sore arm and aching muscles...result of carrying Krissa and a heavy bag using my much under utilised muscles;)
The day started with a minor hiccup....I had thought I had misplaced my camera on the Sentosa bus plying the island when I later found it inside my car......yes! no camera!! Without my camera, I had missed out on the opportunity to capture the precious shot of inquisitive Krissa holding onto a starfish at the pool outside the entrance of the Underwater World.....must go back to Sentosa again, this time with Daddy of course. Of all sea creatures, Krissa liked the Stingrays best....maybe because they each have an adorable "smiling" face?
Apart from the Underwater World, we also went to the Dolphin Lagoon to catch the Pink Dolphin performance. The show was quite short and it was kinda pity that there was no photo taking session with the leads of the show - the Pink Dolphins!! Hmmm....I thought I had seen a signboard which indicates a photo taking session with the Pink Dolphins at S$15.00? Moving on, we went to the Images of Singapore Gallery, cable car ride and the Butterfly park where mummy-daughter-team were scared almost out of our wits with our close encounter with the lories. Yes, we've fed the lories at the Singapore Birdpark but that was with Daddy but since Daddy wasn't around, I gotta brave it for Krissa but useless me ended screaming when too many lories came attacking my feeding cup and ended on my wrist!
The highlight of the day, to Krissa, must be the ride on the Singapore Flyer!! Krissa LOVES the Singapore Flyer and am very glad that Daddy is able to accompany us. Everytime we drive along the ECP at night and passes the Singapore Flyer, Krissa's eyes will light up and gaze at it even when it was beyond our sight. She will even say "hi and bye" to it...I think she finds the lightings on the capsules mesmerising. However, we noticed that even during under broad daylight without any lightings, she was able to identify it even from afar!! Most importantly, she was able to associate the name "Singapore Flyer" with the landmark:) The children were happy to be inside the capsule as there was ample space for them to jump and run about.
After the ride, we ended with a hearty meal at Popeyes Chicken and Biscuit...eh...wonder why they took Biscuits which they were famous for out from their menu. Never mind about the biscuits, their chicken pale in comparison with KFC's but I would definitely give 2 thumbs + 2 big toes up for their fries, coleslaw and corn!!!

Krissa & Her Bear-Bear Stroller 14/07/2009

Krissa with her new toy stroller & posing for the camera:)

I am Mummy too....to my Bear-Bear!!!
Krissa sometimes, instead of resting comfortably in her stroller, would prefer to walk with me and "help" push the stroller. Hence, when I knew I was able to get this at a discount from ELC, I knew I gotta get it for her...she would love it to pieces!! Heheheh...mommy was right! Krissa loves this stroller the minute she sets her eyes on it and when Daddy placed her favourite bear on the stroller, she automatically pushed the stroller with glee.....hehhee....so cute.....This toy should also help in building her motor skills and spacial awareness...hmmm...good buy, good buy....hahahah!!!!

Swimming! Swimming! 12/07/2009

Anna with my nephew Leroy, niece Zegna & Krissa.
Notice that K didn't exactly pose for the camera?
Look at K now!!! This is the result of her playing with the ELC toy camera.
My girl finally knows how to pose for the camera but erm...where was she looking??!!
Wow...I'm so impressed with Leroy....he looked unbelievably adorable!!!
Anna with her kids

Slide! Slide! Here I come!!!

I hate the shuttle....aargh!!!!
It has been quite some time since my sis(Anna) & I brought our kiddos for a swim aka waterplay in a bigger pool...kekkekeke, so off to Raffles Town Club we went. I was happy that Krissa was finally able to use the Hello Kitty shuttle which I had bought sometime back. However, to my dismay, Krissa refused to sit in it and wailed for us to get her out. Between the shuttle and her Hello Kitty watering can, she definitely prefer the latter! She would fill up the can and water the shuttle! Hahahha....as long as she's happy, anything goes:) Apart from the watering can, the water slide was her next favourite and will take Daddy's hand and run towards the slide. Huh?? What was I doing?? Eh...taking some pix but most of the time makan makan with Keng(my sis)...hahhahaha!!!!

SOL Playground Cafe @ Turf City

Mummy-Daughter Matching Top
Don't u think her smile is super, duper SWEEEET??!!!
Indoor play area...see the back of her bloomers!! Rock chick!!!
Our schedule on Saturdays are pretty much tied up with shuffling Krissa for 2 classes - Kids' Loft@ 1p.m, & Art Loft@ 4p.m. Thinking back, I realised that we have spent most of our Sat noon after lesson at Kids' Loft, at this great cafe for kids before making our way to Art Loft. It has an indoor play area with books, kitchen set, rides etc for the kids to entertain themselves while giving parents space to relax over a cuppa and at the same time, able to watch the on-goings of our kids. K will normally be at the indoor play area while waiting for her food, then will go for outdoor play....yes! they have a playground!!!.....when its about time for us to go. Great place to hang out for parents with kids in tow but so-so rating for their food.
On this particular Sat, I had specially dressed Krissa up in a mum & daughter tee from Polo Ralph Lauren, a funky bloomers from Bettsy Kingston(you should have seen the back! Its so pretty with loud yellow ruffles and hot pink tulle!!) and boots from Zara to complete the rock chick look. I especially like Krissa's smile on this picture taken with me......VERY, VERY SWEET!!! This picture is indeed priceless:)
