Heart Melting Moments & Little Surprises

Most recent:
1) 03rd July 2009 @ my mum's house - we were about to go when K went to a corner of the bedroom to get me my wristlet and mobile phone. I was so absent-minded....totally forgot about my stuff! Thank you, darling:)

2) 04th July 2009 in the car on our way home from Art Loft - I got choked for no reason and started coughing, face away from K with my mouth covered. K leaned towards me(she was sitting on my lap...okok, I know its illegal but heck!) and patted lovingly on my back. Darling, this little and kind gesture of yours really moved mummy:)

3) 04th July 2009 in our bedroom - Krissa woke up from her 6+pm nap......1st time she woke up from a 6+p.m. nap, normally she'll sleep through the night. In any case, she woke up, saw me entering the room and greeted me with a loud "Hi!", flashed her pearlies and gave me a big hug. She gestured to me that she wanted to play with the toy camera from the ELC sale, so I took the camera and asked her to mimic my actions when I asked her to "smile". She did so very sweetly with her lovely smile........she pointed at both her cheeks with her index fingers, saying "smile" & "cheese"........just the way I wanted her to pose. So sad I have only the toy camera on hand, hopefully she'll reproduce the same pose when posing for the real camera:)

4) Krissa is not fast in the speech department but I'm not at all worried. My friend once told me that she had read from a book that how fast one speaks depends on the rate of development in the muscles around one's mouth and has no connection with a person's intelligience. Krissa's paediatrician also assured me there's no cause for alarm as Krissa was able to look at him in the eyes when he called out her name. Lately, Krissa has managed to verbalise 2 words together e.g. no more, word world(yes! this series of dvd is her current favourite) and surprises us with her vocabulary e.g. change(when she wants to change the colour of her crayons), throw, sure, red, purple, draw etc. Most importantly, she understands instructions and answers with a loud yes/no when I throw a question at her.

Paper Making

Krissa tried her hands at paper making, amongst other activities, today at Art Loft....2nd time actually. The last time, we merely made the paper and when it was dried, we painted on it. This time, however, we did a simple collage using crepe paper, yarn, gauze, coloured paper pulp etc when the paper was still wet.

Krissa Loves Doodling :)

I think a doodle board is a wonderful and educational toy/tool. I would think most kids like to doodle...even I sometimes find myself doodling away during meetings;p
Krissa adores this new doodle board from ELC, well why shouldn't she be? Apart from the spacious doodle area, there are stamps in different shapes and rollers for her to experiment. Whilst doodling, I can distinctly hear her say words like "roll" when she was using the rollers, "draw" when she was doodling, "pen" when she needed help to take out the doodle pen etc. When I say "erase please", she knew she gotta push the slider all the way to the other end, away from her, and she seemed to get a thrill everytime when she sees the slider automatically sliding down towards her, cleaning her doodles along its way, making the board clean once again. Learning should be fun and to Krissa, this is fun!! Hmmm.......maybe I should get another one in case this gets spoiled?

ELC Forum Atrium Sale!!!

Thanx to Adrene(mummy to Chloe), I came to know of ELC's Atrium sale. The hefty discounts are only applicable to the sale items in the Atrium!!! Really good discounts, so must buy!!! 1-2 items @ 30%, 3-4 items @ 50% & 5 and more items @ 70%!!! I got quite a bit of stuff for Krissa as well as some pressies for Leroy, Zegna & friends' children. Parents' Wish

Stumbled upon this while surfing the web, am very touched, thus would like to share here. After being a mother, I can better appreciate all the sacrifices and efforts of my parents. I hope Krissa will get the chance to read this when she grows up and comprehend it as well as I. The link to the powerpoint with Josh Groban's "You Raise Me Up" is here: http://parentswish.com/site01/big.html

Parents' Wish (Author Unknown)

To our dear child:

On the day when you see us old, weak and weary
Have patience and try to understand us.

If we get dirty when eating, if we cannot dress on our own
Please bear with us and remember the times we spent feeding you and dressing you up.

If, when we speak to you, we repeat the same things over and over again, do not interrupt us, listen to us,
When you were small, we had to read to you the same story a thousand and one times until you went to sleep.

When we do not want to have a shower, neither shame nor scold us
Remember when we had to chase you with your thousand excuses to get you to the shower?

When you see our ignorance of new technologies, help us navigate our way through those worldwide webs
We taught you how to do so many things, to eat the right foods, to dress appropriately, to fight for your rights.

When at some moments we lost the memory or the thread of our conversation, let us have the necessary time to remember, and if we cannot, do not become nervous as the most important thing is not our conversation but surely to be with you and to have you listening to us.

If ever we do not feel like eating, do not force us
We know well when we need to and when not to eat.

When our tired legs give way and do not allow us to walk without a cane, lend us your hand
The same way we did when you tried your first faltering steps.

And when some day we say to you that we do not want to live anymore, that we want to die,
Do not get angry, some day you will understand.
Try to understand that our age is not just lived but survived.

Some day you will realise that, despite our mistakes, we always wanted the best for you.
And we tried to prepare the way for you.

You must not feel sad, angry nor ashamed for having us near you
Instead, try to understand us and help us like we did when you were young

Help us to walk, help us to live the rest of our life with love and dignity
We will pay you with a smile and by the immense love we have always had for you in our hearts.

We love you, child.

Cake Topper & Personalised Pencil

I got this Precious Moment figurine from USA as I want it to be used as her cake topper. This figurine has her birth month printed on the cuppie and can used over and over again. I want this to be a keepsake for her too.

I got the personalised pencils from Oriental Trading. It was having discount on these pencils and I thought they suit the occasion well. The imprint on each pencil was very well done and I like the colours of the balloons too....sure lend a cheer to every loot bag!!
